Senior Editorial Board Member — Stem Cell & Immunomodulation
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Rajesh Ramasamy is a leading researcher in stem cell biology and applied immunomodulation. He currently serves as Associate Professor and Principal Investigator of the Stem Cell & Immunomodulation Research Group at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM).
Following his undergraduate studies in Biomedical Science and Immunology at Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM), Dr. Ramasamy earned his PhD and Diploma of Imperial College (DIC) from Imperial College London, specializing in stem cell transplantation and immunology. Since joining UPM in 2006, he has established one of Malaysia's flagship research programs examining the immunoregulatory mechanisms of mesenchymal stem cells (MSCs) across diverse immune cell populations, including T cells, monocytes, macrophages, neutrophils, and microglia.
His research portfolio also explores the regenerative potential of phytochemical compounds such as Moringa oleifera and Cassia auriculata in immunosuppression and metabolic disease models. Complemented by a Diploma in Siddha Medicine Science (AIAMA), Dr. Ramasamy brings a unique perspective on traditional South Asian healing systems, frequently delivering invited lectures on integrative and translational health research.
