Associate Professor Dr. Mei I Lai is a dedicated academic and scientist whose career spans over two decades at the forefront of haematology education and research. She holds a Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2002) and a Doctor of Philosophy in Gene and Cell Therapy from the prestigious King’s College London (2007).
Following her doctoral training, Dr. Lai returned to Universiti Putra Malaysia, where she has built a distinguished career within the Haematology Unit, Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences; a testament to her deep commitment to advancing healthcare education in Malaysia.
She is currently the Head of the Molecular Unit in the Department of Pathology, Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, Universiti Putra Malaysia. She specialises in molecular techniques like Western blotting, ARMS PCR, real-time quantitative PCR, next generation sequencing and Sanger sequencing.
