Editorial Board Member — Molecular Hematology & Gene Therapy
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mei I Lai is a dedicated academic, researcher, and molecular diagnostician with over 20 years of leadership in hematology education and translational research. She currently serves within the Department of Pathology at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM), and leads clinical diagnostic innovation as the Head of the Molecular Unit at Hospital Sultan Abdul Aziz Shah, UPM.
Dr. Lai earned her Bachelor of Science in Biomedical Science from Universiti Putra Malaysia (2002) before completing her Doctor of Philosophy in Gene and Cell Therapy at King’s College London (2007). Following her doctoral research in London, she returned to UPM to join the Haematology Unit, contributing significantly to undergraduate and postgraduate medical education as well as genomic research in Malaysia.
Her technical and clinical expertise spans advanced molecular methodologies, with a focus on genomic sequencing, target mutation analysis, and molecular diagnostic platforms for hematological conditions.
